Brilliant service - easy to deal with and decent pricing. Due to the orientation of our house, it doesn’t get sun on the back and so when the rendering gets wet it doesn’t dry off properly, allowing algae to grow. LBC were able to clean it all off and apply biocide to help prevent it growing back (added bonus, when this ran off it completely cleaned out patio too). As you can see from the before and after, the house looks brand new again! We used this company for exterior render soft wash and the end results werefantastic. We had one wall needed further cleaning with stubborn black stains from the chimney lead flashing but was high to reach and the company head Conan was very helpful and sent another team to complete the job with cherry picker and was cleaned immaculately by two great guys Keiran and Nash.. Very happy with the results and highly recommend.. Ask for Keiran and Nash team..! Will use again.Posted on Google Jay MarctayTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I attempted to DIY pressure wash our 150 year old house to remove the carbon from the brick, this did nothing to remove the stain and just damaged the wall. I’m so glad I stopped and decided to hire LBC Exterior Cleaning. Nathan and Harvey were professional, friendly and made light work of our brickwork. The carbon literally melted off the wall!Posted on Google James GardnerTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Great service and excellent operator, Misha was awesome 👌

Westminster Render Cleaning for Listed Buildings, Stucco and Roman Cement
LBC Exterior Cleaning provides professional render cleaning services in Westminster, the local authority with the highest concentration of listed buildings of any in England. Approximately 10,000 listed buildings and the majority of its historic residential stock sit within one of the borough’s 56 conservation areas, covering the Georgian and Regency townhouses of Mayfair and Marylebone, the stucco-fronted Regency and early Victorian terraces of Belgravia and Bayswater, the Italianate terraces around Regent’s Park, and the Victorian brick terraces of Pimlico. Many buildings in Westminster are finished in stucco or Roman cement renders exhibiting smooth surfaces, sharp angles and mock joints in imitation of stone ashlar, enriched by architectural mouldings surfaces that Westminster’s own supplementary planning guidance states must retain as much original fabric as possible in any repair or cleaning work. LBC uses DOFF steam cleaning exclusively on these surfaces, with the method knowledge and conservation area experience to work correctly within Westminster’s uniquely demanding compliance environment.
Which Render Cleaning Method Does Your Westminster
Property Need?
The method depends on the render material, the building’s listing status, and whether it sits within an estate with its own design controls.
High-temperature steam at very low pressure with no chemical use. The only appropriate method for Roman cement, stucco ashlar, listed buildings, conservation area properties and estate-managed properties across Mayfair, Belgravia, Marylebone, Bayswater and Regent’s Park. Removes organic staining, atmospheric carbon and biological growth without surface abrasion, chemical runoff or damage to original mouldings and decorative detail.
Low-pressure biocide treatment kills algae, moss and lichen at root level, washing clear over 1 to 4 weeks. Used on Victorian sand and cement renders in Pimlico and the Victoria hinterland, and on modern acrylic finishes on post-war and contemporary developments where chemical application is permitted.
DOFF steam first to lift embedded staining and atmospheric carbon, then biocide to prevent organic regrowth for 3 to 5 years. LBC’s standard recommendation for Pimlico Victorian terraces and properties near the Embankment and Victoria Street corridors where road pollution and organic growth compound each other.
High-pressure washing is not appropriate for any render surface in Westminster. On a listed building it constitutes unauthorised works. On an estate property it breaches the estate’s design standards. On Roman cement or original stucco it causes irreversible surface damage that Westminster’s own planning guidance treats as a material harm to a heritage asset.
How Does LBC's Render Cleaning Service Work?
We assess render type, listed building status, conservation area designation, estate management requirements and access needs on-site or from photos. For listed buildings and estate properties, we confirm the appropriate cleaning method in writing before quoting. You receive a fixed price with no surprises on the day.
Westminster’s mix of grand stucco-fronted palazzo terraces in Belgravia, tall Nash Regent’s Park terraces, narrow Mayfair mews streets and multi-storey Pimlico residential blocks requires careful access planning on every job. We select the right method: rope access, cherry picker or telescopic equipment, and handle all logistics at no additional administrative cost.
DOFF steam is applied first where required to lift embedded staining, atmospheric carbon and biological growth from original render surfaces. Softwash biocide is then applied where appropriate to prevent organic regrowth.
Full walkround before we leave. You receive before-and-after photos and written aftercare guidance confirming the method used for useful documentation for estate managers and listed building records.
Warning Signs Your Westminster Render Needs Attention
- White or grey streaking on stucco or Roman cement fronts where atmospheric pollution has embedded into the surface
- Green or yellow biological staining running downward from window ledges, cornices or parapet copings
- Black carbon deposits on render facing the A4, Victoria Street, Edgware Road or Marylebone Road corridors
- Patchy, uneven discolouration on painted stucco where biological growth is developing beneath the paint layer
- Chalky or powdering surface where original Roman cement or lime stucco has begun to degrade under organic matter
- Discolouration around decorative mouldings, cornices and pilasters where biological matter accumulates in surface detail
On Westminster’s stucco-fronted terraces, the most consequential scenario is biological growth developing beneath painted surfaces undetected. By the time it is visible on the street elevation, paint failure is already in progress and the cost of remediation rises significantly particularly on estate-managed or listed properties where remediation materials must match original specifications. The earlier exterior render cleaning services in Westminster are applied correctly, the more of the original surface is preserved and the less risk of a conservation compliance issue arising from facade deterioration.
What is the best method for cleaning render in Westminster?
For Roman cement, stucco ashlar and most listed or conservation area properties, DOFF steam cleaning is usually the right method. For Victorian sand and cement render in Pimlico and Victoria, softwash biocide or a combined approach may be suitable if atmospheric carbon staining is present. High-pressure washing is not appropriate for render surfaces in Westminster.
With DOFF steam cleaning followed by softwash biocide where appropriate, regrowth is typically reduced for 3 to 5 years. Properties facing the Embankment, Victoria Street or Marylebone Road may need more frequent cleaning because pollution deposits build up faster.
