Brilliant service - easy to deal with and decent pricing. Due to the orientation of our house, it doesn’t get sun on the back and so when the rendering gets wet it doesn’t dry off properly, allowing algae to grow. LBC were able to clean it all off and apply biocide to help prevent it growing back (added bonus, when this ran off it completely cleaned out patio too). As you can see from the before and after, the house looks brand new again! Very happy and well recommendedPosted on Google Noah CharlesworthTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We used this company for exterior render soft wash and the end results werefantastic. We had one wall needed further cleaning with stubborn black stains from the chimney lead flashing but was high to reach and the company head Conan was very helpful and sent another team to complete the job with cherry picker and was cleaned immaculately by two great guys Keiran and Nash.. Very happy with the results and highly recommend.. Ask for Keiran and Nash team..! Will use again.Posted on Google Jay MarctayTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I attempted to DIY pressure wash our 150 year old house to remove the carbon from the brick, this did nothing to remove the stain and just damaged the wall. I’m so glad I stopped and decided to hire LBC Exterior Cleaning. Nathan and Harvey were professional, friendly and made light work of our brickwork. The carbon literally melted off the wall!Posted on Google James GardnerTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Great service and excellent operator, Misha was awesome 👌

LBC Exterior Cleaning provides professional render cleaning services in Southwark, a borough where the range of property types and render surfaces is as broad as anywhere in London. Substantial Georgian houses and fine Victorian and Edwardian terraces sit comfortably alongside 1930s family homes, good examples of 1960s architecture, and more recently approved modern developments — all within a borough built on historically marshy Thames-side land whose high water table and riverside microclimate accelerate organic growth on render faster than in most comparable South London boroughs. There are 48 conservation areas in Southwark, covering everything from the Georgian streets around Borough Market to Dulwich Village’s leafy residential conservation zone. LBC uses DOFF steam cleaning and softwash biocide at low pressure across all of it, with the experience to match the method to the surface whether that surface is 200-year-old Georgian stucco or a brand-new acrylic render on a Bermondsey riverside development.
What’s the Best Southwark Render Cleaning Method
The method depends on the render type, the heritage designation of the building, and its proximity to the Thames or its tributary waterways.
High-temperature steam at very low pressure with no chemical use. The standard approved method for Georgian stucco, listed buildings, conservation area properties, and Victorian warehouse conversions across Bermondsey and Shad Thames. Removes organic staining and atmospheric carbon without surface abrasion or water ingress risk.
Low-pressure biocide treatment kills algae, moss and lichen at root level, washing clear over 1 to 4 weeks. Used on Victorian and Edwardian sand and cement renders across Peckham and Camberwell, and on modern acrylic finishes on riverside and regeneration developments. Essential as a follow-up on all Thames-adjacent and canal-facing elevations.
Steam first to lift embedded staining, then biocide to prevent regrowth for 3 to 5 years. LBC’s standard recommendation for long-neglected period render and for Southwark properties where Thames-side moisture and atmospheric carbon compound each other.
High-pressure washing is not appropriate for any render surface in Southwark and is particularly damaging to the Georgian stucco, Victorian lime render and warehouse conversion surfaces that define the borough’s most distinctive streets.
How Does LBC's Render Cleaning Service Work?
We assess render type, conservation area or listed building status, proximity to the Thames, soiling level and access requirements on-site or from photos. For listed buildings and heritage properties, we confirm the appropriate method before quoting. You receive a fixed price with no surprises on the day.
Southwark’s mix of tall Georgian townhouses, narrow Bermondsey warehouse streets, multi-storey Peckham terraces and open-plan Dulwich villa plots means access requirements vary significantly. We select the right method: rope access, cherry picker or telescopic equipment, and handle all logistics at no additional administrative cost.
DOFF steam is applied first where required to lift embedded staining and atmospheric carbon. Softwash biocide is then applied to all treated surfaces to kill residual organic matter and prevent regrowth.
Full walkround before we leave. You receive before-and-after photos and written aftercare guidance.
Is Your Southwark Property At Risk? Red Algae and Soot Signs to Watch For
- Green or yellow staining running downward from window ledges, roof edges or gutters
- Rapidly recurring organic growth on Thames-facing, canal-facing or riverside-adjacent elevations
- Black carbon deposits on render facing the A2, Old Kent Road or Elephant and Castle corridors
- White or grey streaking on Georgian stucco fronts where atmospheric pollution has embedded
- Patchy, uneven colouring on Victorian render where biological growth is beginning beneath the surface
- Chalky or powdering finish on lime-based stucco or sand and cement render where organic matter has degraded the surface
On Southwark’s Thames-adjacent properties, the most reliable warning sign is the speed of recurrence growth that returns within a year of the last clean is a sign that biocide treatment was not applied or was insufficient for the moisture conditions at that location. On the Dulwich and Camberwell properties, the equivalent pattern is deepening shade-elevation staining that worsens year on year as the surrounding tree canopy matures. The earlier exterior render cleaning services in Southwark are applied correctly, the longer each treatment holds.
What is the best method for cleaning render in Southwark?
For Georgian stucco and listed or conservation area properties: DOFF steam cleaning. For Victorian and Edwardian sand and cement renders in Peckham and Camberwell: softwash biocide, or a combined approach where heavy staining is present. For all Thames-facing and riverside properties: biocide treatment after cleaning is essential. High-pressure washing is not appropriate for any of these surfaces.
