Brilliant service - easy to deal with and decent pricing. Due to the orientation of our house, it doesn’t get sun on the back and so when the rendering gets wet it doesn’t dry off properly, allowing algae to grow. LBC were able to clean it all off and apply biocide to help prevent it growing back (added bonus, when this ran off it completely cleaned out patio too). As you can see from the before and after, the house looks brand new again! We used this company for exterior render soft wash and the end results werefantastic. We had one wall needed further cleaning with stubborn black stains from the chimney lead flashing but was high to reach and the company head Conan was very helpful and sent another team to complete the job with cherry picker and was cleaned immaculately by two great guys Keiran and Nash.. Very happy with the results and highly recommend.. Ask for Keiran and Nash team..! Will use again.Posted on Google Jay MarctayTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I attempted to DIY pressure wash our 150 year old house to remove the carbon from the brick, this did nothing to remove the stain and just damaged the wall. I’m so glad I stopped and decided to hire LBC Exterior Cleaning. Nathan and Harvey were professional, friendly and made light work of our brickwork. The carbon literally melted off the wall!Posted on Google James GardnerTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Great service and excellent operator, Misha was awesome 👌

Wandsworth Render Cleaning for Every Type of Property, from Tooting to Battersea
LBC Exterior Cleaning provides professional render cleaning services in Wandsworth, a borough whose five distinct town centres Balham, Clapham Junction, Putney, Tooting and Wandsworth each carry a different architectural character and a different dominant render type. There are around 500 nationally listed buildings and a further 500 on the council’s local list, and conservation areas that are extraordinarily varied, covering single streets, the remnants of historic villages, and architecturally significant social housing from the Battersea Square village cluster to the Totterdown Fields Arts and Crafts cottage estate in Tooting. Add the Thames-facing Battersea riverside an industrial waterfront now undergoing immense change with the emergence of new riverside quarters and Wandsworth presents a render cleaning range that few South West London boroughs can match. LBC uses DOFF steam cleaning and softwash biocide at low pressure across all of it, with the experience to match the method to every surface from Georgian stucco to brand-new Battersea Power Station district acrylic.
Which Render Cleaning Method Is Right for Your Property?
The method depends on the render type, the property’s heritage status, and its proximity to the Thames or the borough’s river tributaries.
High-temperature steam at very low pressure with no chemical use. The standard approved method for listed buildings, stucco-fronted properties in Putney and Battersea Square, the Totterdown Fields conservation area, and any heritage render where chemical application is not appropriate. Removes organic staining, atmospheric carbon and biological growth without surface abrasion or water ingress risk.
Low-pressure biocide treatment kills algae, moss and lichen at root level, washing clear over 1 to 4 weeks. Used on Victorian and Edwardian sand and cement renders in Balham, Tooting and Earlsfield, and on modern acrylic finishes on Battersea riverside developments. Essential as a follow-up on all Thames-facing and river-adjacent elevations.
Steam first to lift embedded staining, then biocide to prevent regrowth for 3 to 5 years. LBC’s standard recommendation for long-neglected period render across the borough’s Victorian terraces and for properties near the Wandle corridor where ground moisture accelerates organic growth.
It is a criminal offence to carry out works to a listed building without consent and that includes using the wrong cleaning method on a listed render surface. High-pressure washing is not appropriate for any render type in Wandsworth.
How Does LBC's Render Cleaning Service Work?
We assess render type, listed building or conservation area status, proximity to the Thames or Wandle corridor, soiling level and access requirements on-site or from photos. For listed buildings and heritage properties, we confirm the appropriate method before quoting. You receive a fixed price with no surprises on the day.
Wandsworth’s five town centres each present different access requirements from the narrow Victorian terrace streets of Balham and Tooting to the multi-storey Battersea riverside towers and the wide-plot Putney detached homes. We select the right method: rope access, cherry picker or telescopic equipment, and handle all logistics at no additional administrative cost.
DOFF steam is applied first where required to lift embedded staining and atmospheric carbon. Softwash biocide is then applied to all treated surfaces to kill residual organic matter and prevent regrowth.
Full walkround before we leave. You receive before-and-after photos and written aftercare guidance.
Signs Your Render
Needs Cleaning
- Green or yellow staining running downward from window ledges, roof edges or gutters
- Rapidly recurring organic growth on Thames-facing or Putney Embankment elevations
- Black carbon deposits on render facing the A3, Balham High Road or Clapham Junction corridors
- Patchy, uneven colouring on Victorian render where biological growth is developing beneath the surface
- Chalky or powdering stucco where organic matter has begun degrading the lime-based finish
- Persistent damp-elevation staining on properties in the Wandle and Graveney river corridors that worsens year on year
On Wandsworth’s Victorian terraces, the most common pattern is green staining on north-facing or rear elevations that deepens annually as organic growth penetrates further into porous render. On the Battersea and Putney riverside, the equivalent pattern is rapid regrowth after cleaning a sign that biocide treatment was not applied or was insufficient for the sustained moisture levels at that location. The earlier exterior render cleaning services in Wandsworth are applied correctly, the longer each treatment holds and the less restoration work accumulates over time.
What is the best method for cleaning render in Wandsworth?
Pebbledash That depends on the surface. DOFF steam is usually best for stucco and listed buildings, softwash works well on most Victorian and Edwardian render, and modern acrylic finishes should only be
treated with softwash.
