Brilliant service - easy to deal with and decent pricing. Due to the orientation of our house, it doesn’t get sun on the back and so when the rendering gets wet it doesn’t dry off properly, allowing algae to grow. LBC were able to clean it all off and apply biocide to help prevent it growing back (added bonus, when this ran off it completely cleaned out patio too). As you can see from the before and after, the house looks brand new again! Very happy and well recommendedPosted on Google Noah CharlesworthTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Great work from both Oleksandr and Noah, on waste removal and pressure washing/ steam cleaning in an old loading bay!Posted on Google Jose ACTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We used this company for exterior render soft wash and the end results werefantastic. We had one wall needed further cleaning with stubborn black stains from the chimney lead flashing but was high to reach and the company head Conan was very helpful and sent another team to complete the job with cherry picker and was cleaned immaculately by two great guys Keiran and Nash.. Very happy with the results and highly recommend.. Ask for Keiran and Nash team..! Will use again.Posted on Google Jay MarctayTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I attempted to DIY pressure wash our 150 year old house to remove the carbon from the brick, this did nothing to remove the stain and just damaged the wall. I’m so glad I stopped and decided to hire LBC Exterior Cleaning. Nathan and Harvey were professional, friendly and made light work of our brickwork. The carbon literally melted off the wall!Posted on Google James GardnerTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Great service and excellent operator, Misha was awesome 👌

Safe Restoration for
Conservation Areas
LBC Exterior Cleaning provides professional render cleaning services in Kensington and Chelsea, London’s most protected borough and the one where the consequences of using the wrong cleaning method are most severe. 73% of the borough falls within conservation areas, and there are approximately 3,800 listed buildings, the majority of them stucco-fronted Victorian and Regency townhouses whose lime-based render surfaces require DOFF steam cleaning, not pressure washing. Unauthorised works to any part of a listed building carry a risk of prosecution, imprisonment of up to six months, and fines of up to £20,000 a context that makes method selection here a compliance decision before it is ever a technical one. LBC uses DOFF steam cleaning and softwash biocide at low pressure across the full borough, with the experience to work correctly within listed building and conservation area constraints without shortcuts.
What Is the Only Safe Method for Cleaning Stucco in Kensington and Chelsea?
The render surfaces that define this borough are among the most unforgiving in London when cleaned incorrectly. The method must match the surface and the planning designation, not just the visible soiling.
High-temperature steam at very low pressure with no chemical use. The standard approved method for stucco, lime render, listed buildings and conservation area properties across the full borough. Removes organic staining, atmospheric carbon and biological growth without surface abrasion, chemical runoff or water ingress risk.
Low-pressure biocide treatment kills algae, moss and lichen at root level, washing clear over 1 to 4 weeks. Used on sand and cement render and modern acrylic finishes in North Kensington and on converted mews properties where chemical application is permitted.
DOFF steam first to lift embedded staining, then biocide to prevent regrowth for 3 to 5 years. LBC’s recommendation for heavily soiled stucco or long-neglected surfaces where biological growth has embedded beneath the paint layer.
High-pressure washing is not appropriate for any render surface in Kensington and Chelsea. On a listed building, it constitutes unauthorised works and carries criminal liability regardless of intent.
How Does LBC's Render Cleaning Service Work?
We assess render type, listed building or conservation area status, soiling level, surface area and access requirements on-site or from photos. For listed buildings, we confirm the appropriate cleaning method in writing before quoting. You receive a fixed price with no surprises on the day.
The borough’s mix of tall Victorian townhouse terraces, narrow mews streets and multi-storey mansion blocks requires careful access planning. We select the right method: rope access, cherry picker or telescopic equipment, and handle all logistics at no additional administrative cost.
DOFF steam is applied first where required to lift embedded staining and atmospheric carbon. Softwash biocide is then applied to all treated surfaces to kill residual organic matter and prevent regrowth.
Full walkround before we leave. You receive before-and-after photos and written aftercare guidance.
How Do You Know If Your Render Needs Cleaning?
- White or grey streaking on stucco fronts where atmospheric pollution has embedded into the surface
- Patchy, uneven colouring on painted stucco where biological growth is beginning beneath the paint layer
- Green or yellow staining running downward from window ledges, balconies or roof edges
- Black carbon deposits on surfaces facing the Cromwell Road, Earls Court Road or Holland Park Avenue
- Chalky or powdering surface where the lime-based stucco has begun to degrade beneath organic matter
On Kensington and Chelsea’s stucco-fronted properties, the most damaging scenario is biological growth that develops beneath painted stucco undetected. By the time it is visible on the surface, paint failure is already in progress and the remediation cost rises significantly. The earlier exterior render cleaning services in Kensington and Chelsea are applied, the less restoration work the property will need and on a listed building, the lower the risk of a compliance issue arising from deterioration of the facade.
What is the best method for cleaning stucco
in Kensington and Chelsea?
DOFF steam cleaning is the standard approved method for stucco, lime render and all listed or conservation area properties in the borough. Softwash biocide is used on sand and cement or modern acrylic renders where chemical application is permitted. High-pressure washing is not appropriate for any surface in this borough.
With professional DOFF steam cleaning followed by softwash biocide treatment, organic regrowth is typically prevented for 3 to 5 years. Properties facing busy roads such as the Cromwell Road or Holland Park Avenue accumulate atmospheric carbon faster and may benefit from more frequent steam cleaning to manage pollution deposits alongside biological growth.
