Brilliant service - easy to deal with and decent pricing. Due to the orientation of our house, it doesn’t get sun on the back and so when the rendering gets wet it doesn’t dry off properly, allowing algae to grow. LBC were able to clean it all off and apply biocide to help prevent it growing back (added bonus, when this ran off it completely cleaned out patio too). As you can see from the before and after, the house looks brand new again! We used this company for exterior render soft wash and the end results werefantastic. We had one wall needed further cleaning with stubborn black stains from the chimney lead flashing but was high to reach and the company head Conan was very helpful and sent another team to complete the job with cherry picker and was cleaned immaculately by two great guys Keiran and Nash.. Very happy with the results and highly recommend.. Ask for Keiran and Nash team..! Will use again.Posted on Google Jay MarctayTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I attempted to DIY pressure wash our 150 year old house to remove the carbon from the brick, this did nothing to remove the stain and just damaged the wall. I’m so glad I stopped and decided to hire LBC Exterior Cleaning. Nathan and Harvey were professional, friendly and made light work of our brickwork. The carbon literally melted off the wall!Posted on Google James GardnerTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Great service and excellent operator, Misha was awesome 👌

LBC Exterior Cleaning provides professional render cleaning services in Tower Hamlets, a borough where the gap between its oldest and newest buildings is wider than almost anywhere in London. Georgian classical squares along the Commercial Road, Victorian stucco terraces in Bethnal Green, converted Victorian dock warehouses in Wapping, and the modern towers of Canary Wharf sit within the same borough boundary and between them they present every render type and cleaning challenge that exists in the capital. There are 58 conservation areas in Tower Hamlets, each with adopted character appraisal and management guidelines that govern what methods are acceptable on exterior surfaces. LBC uses DOFF steam cleaning and softwash biocide at low pressure across all of it, with the experience to work correctly within listed building and conservation area constraints from Spitalfields to the
Isle of Dogs.
Choosing the Right Render Cleaning Method for Tower Hamlets Homes
The method depends on the render type, the building’s heritage status, and its location relative to the Thames and the borough’s major road corridors.
High-temperature steam at very low pressure with no chemical use. The standard approved method for Georgian stucco in Spitalfields, listed buildings, conservation area properties, and Victorian warehouse conversions across Wapping, Limehouse and the Regent’s Canal corridor. Removes organic staining, industrial carbon deposits and atmospheric soiling without surface abrasion or water ingress risk.
Low-pressure biocide treatment kills algae, moss and lichen at root level, washing clear over 1 to 4 weeks. Used on Victorian and Edwardian sand and cement renders in Bethnal Green, Stepney and Mile End, and on modern acrylic finishes on post-war and contemporary developments across the Isle of Dogs. Essential as a follow-up on all Thames-facing and canal-adjacent elevations.
Steam first to lift embedded staining, then biocide to prevent regrowth for 3 to 5 years. LBC’s standard recommendation for Wapping warehouse conversions and long-neglected Victorian period render where industrial atmospheric carbon and organic growth have compounded over decades.
High-pressure washing is not appropriate for any render surface in Tower Hamlets and carries criminal liability when used on listed buildings, a category that covers a significant proportion of the borough’s most prominent streets.
How Does LBC's Render Cleaning Service Work?
We assess render type, listed building or conservation area status, proximity to the Thames or Regent’s Canal, soiling level and access requirements on-site or from photos. For listed buildings, we confirm the appropriate cleaning method in writing before quoting. You receive a fixed price with no surprises on the day.
Tower Hamlets’ mix of tall Georgian townhouse terraces in Spitalfields, converted multi-storey warehouse blocks in Wapping, narrow canal-side streets in Limehouse and open-plan Isle of Dogs towers requires careful access planning on every job. We select the right method: rope access, cherry picker or telescopic equipment, and handle all logistics at no additional administrative cost.
DOFF steam is applied first where required to lift embedded staining, industrial carbon deposits and atmospheric soiling. Softwash biocide is then applied to all treated surfaces to kill residual organic matter and prevent regrowth.
Full walkround before we leave. You receive before-and-after photos and written aftercare guidance.
How Do You Know If Your Render Needs Cleaning?
- White or grey streaking on Georgian or Victorian stucco where atmospheric pollution has embedded into the surface
- Patchy, uneven colouring on period render where biological growth is developing beneath the surface layer
- Chalky or powdering lime stucco where organic matter has degraded the surface beneath
On Tower Hamlets’ Georgian and Victorian heritage properties, the most damaging pattern is atmospheric carbon combined with biological growth that together degrade lime-based stucco faster than organic growth alone. By the time discolouration is clearly visible on the street elevation, the damage is already well established. The earlier exterior render cleaning services in Tower Hamlets are applied correctly, the more of the original surface is preserved and the less restoration work the property will accumulate over time.
What is the best method for cleaning render in Tower Hamlets?
For Georgian stucco and listed or conservation area properties: DOFF steam cleaning. For Victorian sand and cement render in Bethnal Green and Stepney: softwash biocide, or a combined approach where heavy atmospheric carbon staining is present. For modern acrylic finishes on Isle of Dogs and Canary Wharf developments: softwash only. High-pressure washing is not appropriate for any of these surfaces.
