Brent's Most Demanding Properties

We provide professional render cleaning services in Brent, covering the borough’s distinct mix of Metroland semi-detached houses in Wembley and Kingsbury, Victorian and Edwardian terraces in Willesden, Kilburn and Harlesden, and modern high-density developments in Wembley Park and Alperton. Each property type carries a different render finish, and each requires a different cleaning approach. LBC uses softwash biocide and DOFF steam cleaning at low pressure to remove algae, moss and staining safely, without the surface damage that high-pressure washing causes, particularly on pebbledash and roughcast finishes.

Before After

What is the best method for cleaning render in Brent?

For pebbledash and roughcast: softwash biocide only. For Victorian sand and cement or properties near busy road corridors with carbon staining: DOFF steam cleaning first, then softwash. For modern acrylic or polymer render in Wembley Park or Alperton: softwash only. High-pressure washing is not appropriate for any of these surfaces.

High-temperature steam, up to 150 degrees Celsius, at very low pressure removes deeply embedded organic staining and atmospheric carbon deposits immediately. Used on Victorian and Edwardian sand and cement renders, and on commercial properties along Brent’s busier road corridors, where traffic pollution embeds into the render face over time.

Steam removes heavy staining immediately. Softwash biocide then treats the render pores to prevent regrowth for 3 to 5 years. This is LBC’s standard approach for heavily soiled or long-neglected renders across the borough.

High-pressure washing is not suitable for any render surface. It strips texture, dislodges aggregate on pebbledash, and opens the render to water ingress. All LBC operatives adjust pressure and temperature to the specific substrate before starting.

How Does LBC's Render Cleaning Service Work?

We assess render type, soiling level, surface area and access requirements, on-site or from photos. You receive a fixed price with no surprises on the day.

We select the right access method for your building: rope access, cherry picker or telescopic equipment. We handle all access logistics at no additional administrative cost.

Biocide is applied to all treated surfaces at low pressure. Where DOFF steam is required, this is completed first to lift heavy staining before biocide treatment.

Full walkround before we leave. You receive before-and-after photos and written aftercare guidance.

How Do You Know If Your Render Needs Cleaning?

On Brent’s Metroland properties specifically, green staining on upper-storey pebbledash is the most common presentation, typically worst on rear elevations that face north or are shaded by the mature street trees that characterise Wembley and Kingsbury’s garden suburb roads. The earlier exterior render cleaning services are applied, the less restoration work is needed and the longer the treatment lasts.

Why Is Brent's Atmospheric Pollution a Problem for Render?

Brent sits at the junction of several of North West London’s busiest arterial routes, including the A40, North Circular and Harrow Road. Fine carbon particles from traffic deposit onto render surfaces over time and embed into the pores, presenting as grey or black discolouration that biocide alone cannot remove. Properties on or near these corridors, particularly in Harlesden, Park Royal and Neasden, require DOFF steam cleaning to lift atmospheric staining from the render face before biocide treatment is applied. This is one of the reasons render in urban Brent deteriorates faster and needs more frequent attention than properties in quieter outer boroughs.
