Brilliant service - easy to deal with and decent pricing. Due to the orientation of our house, it doesn’t get sun on the back and so when the rendering gets wet it doesn’t dry off properly, allowing algae to grow. LBC were able to clean it all off and apply biocide to help prevent it growing back (added bonus, when this ran off it completely cleaned out patio too). As you can see from the before and after, the house looks brand new again! We used this company for exterior render soft wash and the end results werefantastic. We had one wall needed further cleaning with stubborn black stains from the chimney lead flashing but was high to reach and the company head Conan was very helpful and sent another team to complete the job with cherry picker and was cleaned immaculately by two great guys Keiran and Nash.. Very happy with the results and highly recommend.. Ask for Keiran and Nash team..! Will use again.Posted on Jay MarctayTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I attempted to DIY pressure wash our 150 year old house to remove the carbon from the brick, this did nothing to remove the stain and just damaged the wall. I’m so glad I stopped and decided to hire LBC Exterior Cleaning. Nathan and Harvey were professional, friendly and made light work of our brickwork. The carbon literally melted off the wall!Posted on James GardnerTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Great service and excellent operator, Misha was awesome 👌

Brent's Most Demanding Properties
LBC Exterior Cleaning provides professional render cleaning services in Brent, covering the borough’s distinct mix of Metroland semi-detached houses in Wembley and Kingsbury, Victorian and Edwardian terraces in Willesden, Kilburn and Harlesden, and modern high-density developments in Wembley Park and Alperton. Each property type carries a different render finish, and each requires a different cleaning approach. LBC uses softwash biocide and DOFF steam cleaning at low pressure to remove algae, moss and staining safely, without the surface damage that high-pressure washing causes, particularly on pebbledash and roughcast finishes.
What Is the Best Way to Clean Render in Brent?
The right method depends on the render type. LBC assesses each surface before starting and selects the appropriate technique, or combination of techniques, based on what the render can safely tolerate.
Softwash with biocide A biocide solution applied at low pressure kills algae, moss and lichen at root level. Organic matter dies off and washes clear with rainfall over 1 to 4 weeks. This is the only safe method for pebbledash, roughcast and modern acrylic renders, where high pressure would cause irreversible surface damage.
High-temperature steam, up to 150 degrees Celsius, at very low pressure removes deeply embedded organic staining and atmospheric carbon deposits immediately. Used on Victorian and Edwardian sand and cement renders, and on commercial properties along Brent’s busier road corridors, where traffic pollution embeds into the render face over time.
Steam removes heavy staining immediately. Softwash biocide then treats the render pores to prevent regrowth for 3 to 5 years. This is LBC’s standard approach for heavily soiled or long-neglected renders across the borough.
High-pressure washing is not suitable for any render surface. It strips texture, dislodges aggregate on pebbledash, and opens the render to water ingress. All LBC operatives adjust pressure and temperature to the specific substrate before starting.
How Does LBC's Render Cleaning Service Work?
We assess render type, soiling level, surface area and access requirements, on-site or from photos. You receive a fixed price with no surprises on the day.
We select the right access method for your building: rope access, cherry picker or telescopic equipment. We handle all access logistics at no additional administrative cost.
Biocide is applied to all treated surfaces at low pressure. Where DOFF steam is required, this is completed first to lift heavy staining before biocide treatment.
Full walkround before we leave. You receive before-and-after photos and written aftercare guidance.
How Do You Know If Your Render Needs Cleaning?
- Green streaking running downward from window ledges, roof edges or gutters
- Black patches on shaded walls, particularly north-facing or tree-shadowed elevations
- Yellow or brown discolouration across render panels, common on older pebbledash
- Patchy, uneven colouring in early-stage algae growth before it becomes visible streaking
- Chalky or dull surface where roughcast has lost its original colour intensity
On Barnet’s interwar properties specifically, green staining on upper-storey pebbledash is the most common presentation. It is typically worst on rear and side elevations that face north or are shaded by mature garden trees. The earlier exterior render cleaning services in Barnet are applied, the less restoration work is needed and the longer the treatment lasts.
What Is the Best Way to Render Clean in Barnet?
Pebbledash aggregate is held by adhesion, not full embedment, so high-pressure water dislodges the stones and opens the mortar to water ingress. Once stones are lost, the damage is irreversible without full re-rendering.
A biocide solution applied at low pressure kills algae, moss and lichen at root level, with organic matter washing clear with rainfall over 1 to 4 weeks. The pebble aggregate is undisturbed throughout.
For properties on elevations facing the A1 or North Circular with deeply embedded carbon staining, DOFF steam lifts soiling that biocide alone cannot remove. It is also the required method for listed properties and those within Hampstead Garden Suburb where chemical application needs prior approval.
